Building Entrance

Building Entrance

Our 45,000 square foot Fremont 1 Colocation Facility is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, with easy access from two major freeways (880, 680). Three international airports (SJC, OAK, and SFO) are a short distance away. Our Fremont 2 Colocation Facility is located 1.5 miles south. Ample free parking is always available at our Fremont data centers, adjacent to the building entrance.
Front Desk Check-In

Front Desk Check-In

Our front desk staff grants entry to the data center only for authorized personnel; each person must bring a government-issued photo ID for each visit. A new photo is taken each time someone visits.
Security and Cameras

Security and Cameras

Our custom digital security camera system monitors all entries, hallways, lobby and colocation cabinet areas in our data centers.
Access Control

Access Control

Entry to any door to enter the colocation areas requires an access card key, carried only by our staff.
Overhead View

Overhead View

The Fremont 1 Data Center includes 12 rows of 84 cabinets each (1,008 total).
Raised Floors

Raised Floors

Raised floors allow for distribution of both cold air and power cables throughout the data center.
Cabinet Locks

Cabinet Locks

Both front and back doors of every cabinet have secure locks, preventing unauthorized access. When a customer checks in, our staff escorts the visitor to their cabinet(s) and opens the customer's cabinets, as requested.
Cabinet Interior

Cabinet Interior

Each cabinet allows for equipment up to 19 inches wide, 28 inches deep, and 74 inches high (42U). (Deeper cabinets are available at our Fremont 2 colocation facility.)
Airflow: Floor Vent

Airflow: Floor Vent

Forced cool air enters each cabinet through an oversized floor vent, flowing upward through the cabinet.
Airflow: Exhaust Fan

Airflow: Exhaust Fan

Warm air is removed with an exhaust fan at the top of each cabinet. The fan exhausts 550CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute). Also at the top of the cabinet, two cable-access openings are provided for copper and fiber optic cables.
Power Strip

Power Strip

Each cabinet includes a 12-outlet vertical power strip, to preserve the full 42U vertical rack space available in each cabinet. Customers may install horizontal power strips, or power management devices that can be remotely accessed over IP.
Cabling: Ladders, Raceways, Conduits

Cabling: Ladders, Raceways, Conduits

Fiber optic and copper cables are placed on raised ladders and conduits above each row of cabinets.
Cross-Connects

Free Cross-Connects

Cross-connect cables link each customer to Hurricane Electric or other transit providers and carriers, or to other customers.
Telecom Room: IP Transit and Carriers

Telecom Room: IP Transit and Carriers

Our Telecommunications Room includes access and equipment from many different carriers, as well as some of our core routers, connecting to other facilities and transit options. Roof access is available for customers needing antennas.
Air Conditioning

Air Conditioning

Distributed throughout the data center, redundant industrial HVAC units (air conditioners) environmentally control the air temperature and relative humidity in the Colocation Facility. Cold air flows under the raised floors, before being forced into cabinets through oversized floor vents.
Power Conditioning and Power Distribution Units

Power Conditioning and Power Distribution Units

Clean, conditioned power is delivered through Power Distribution Units (at least one for each row of cabinets). Each cabinet is individually breakered, so even if one customer has a power issue, other cabinets should not be affected.
Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Our PDUs are connected to Uninterruptible Power Supplies, which have enough battery power to keep systems running until our generator starts delivering power. Our systems undergo regular preventative maintenance.
Backup Generator

Backup Generator

Our 2-megawatt generator automatically starts when utility power is lost and begins delivering full electric power to our facility within seconds. We have enough fuel on hand for several days of generator operation at full load; we also have contracts with local suppliers to promptly replenish fuel when necessary. We regularly test our generators, which also undergo regular preventive maintenance.
Seismic Bracing

Seismic Bracing

Every cabinet is seismically braced to meet and exceed the Universal Building Code (UBC).
Tools Available

A variety of tools in our Network Operations Center (NOC) are available for our customers.
Computer Stations and WiFi

Computer Stations and WiFi

While visiting our data center, customers can use computer stations in our spacious break room, where we also provide cables to connect your own notebook computer to the internet. Free WiFi access is also provided in some locations in each facility.
Remote Hands Service

Remote Hands Service

Hurricane Electric provides free basic “Remote Hands” service, so customers aren't charged for asking our staff to check a server's status, attach a monitor and keyboard, restart a server, replace hot-swappable hard disk drives, or perform other routine tasks. Our trained technical staff can help you identify, diagnose, and resolve issues. For more complex issues, we offer professional services under contract.
Colo Carts

Colo Carts

“Colo Carts” provide convenient access to a keyboard, mouse, and monitor anywhere in the facility. Some customers call them “Crash Carts,” when asking our staff to connect to a non-responsive server, as part of our free basic Remote Hands service. Customers also use the Colo Carts when installing and maintaining equipment.
Delivery Entrances
